Peanut chutney powder | shenga chutney pudi | groundnut chutney powder

Today we will see the simple and quick peanut chutney powder or chutney pudi recipe. It is simple and spicy condiment spice powder prepared mainly with the roasted peanuts or groundnuts. Chutney pudi or chutney powder is an integral part of many south Indian family. There are numerous variation to this spice powder and can be prepared with numerous ingredients and lentils. This is one such recipe prepared with peanuts as the main ingredient.
It goes well with jowar roti( jolada rotti), idli, dosa...can also be used to make podi dosa, podi idli.INGREDIENTS:
1. Peanuts/ groundnuts - 1 cup (200gms)
2. Fried Bengal gram(putani) - 1/4 cup
3. Garlic pods - 7 -8
4. Jaggery - 4 tsp
5. Salt - 1 tsp
6. Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 1/4 tsp
7. Tamarind - gooseberry size
METHOD:
• firstly dry roast 1 cup peanuts and Tamarind on medium flame.
• roast until the peanuts turn crunchy and start to leave their skin.
• cool the peanuts completely and transfer to a blender.
• also, add 1/4 cup fried bengal gram( putani), 7-8 garlic pods, 1 1/4 tsp chilli powder, 4 tsp jaggery and 1 tsp salt.
• pulse and blend to a coarse powder. Do not blend continuously, as peanuts will release oil and turn paste.
• finally, store peanut chutney powder / shenga chutney pudi in an airtight container and enjoy with jolada rotti, idli and dosa.
